How do I schedule an appointment?

Do I need a prescription or referral?

In New York you can begin physical therapy without a prescription. This “direct access” saves time and often lowers your cost. If imaging or a physician visit is needed, we will guide you there.

How often will I need to come?

Visit frequency is set during your initial evaluation. Because sessions are a full hour, one-on-one, and you leave with exercises to do at home, most clients need fewer visits than in a typical insurance-based clinic.

Where are sessions conducted?

We offer in-clinic, virtual and concierge in-home services. We will help you pick the option that fits your situation.

What is your cancellation policy?

We ask for at least 48 hours notice. Missed appointments without notice may be charged the full session fee.

What should I wear to my first visit?

Comfortable clothing you can move in, and sneakers. If we're treating a knee, hip or ankle, shorts are ideal.

Do you take insurance?

AMW Physical Therapy is an out-of-network provider. We don't contract with insurance companies, which is what allows us to deliver one-on-one care without time limits. We gladly accept HSA and FSA payments.

How can I check my out-of-network coverage?

Call your insurance company and ask three questions: Do I have outpatient, out-of-network benefits for physical therapy? Do I have an out-of-network deductible, and has it been met? What percentage of the visit is reimbursed once the deductible is met?

Will I get a receipt I can submit for reimbursement?

Yes. We provide a detailed superbill you can submit to your insurance company for possible out-of-network reimbursement.

Insurance-based clinics are paid per visit, which pushes them toward short, shared sessions. We chose a model where the entire hour belongs to you.

What happens at the first appointment?

A full 60-minute evaluation: your history, a movement and strength assessment, hands-on treatment the same day, and a clear plan you leave with.

Do you treat non-athletes?

Absolutely. Most of our clients are active adults who want to keep hiking, lifting, gardening, chasing kids or working without pain.

Do you offer virtual visits outside New York?
